datafood makes the Swiss food composition database V7.1 published by the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) readable and usable: food composition, rankings by nutrient, a comparison tool and calculators, in four languages.

Naram Hasan, founder and editor in chief. He sets the editorial line, checks published content and takes responsibility for publication.

The purpose

The official data exists, but it lives inside a search form that is hard to explore. datafood turns it into clear pages: every food, every nutrient, every comparison. Always with the source, the version and the origin of each value.

The rules this site holds itself to

• The official data is the only reference: no value is invented, estimated or borrowed from another database.
• No health claims: the site publishes composition, never a presumed benefit.
• Visible attribution on every page, with the source version shown.
• Calculators run entirely in your browser: no personal data is transmitted.

Independence

datafood is an independent editorial project. The publisher is affiliated with neither the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) nor the federal administration; the database is used under its licence, which permits commercial use and requires attribution. No content is commissioned by a manufacturer or a retailer.
